Here are some downloads that I highly reccomend :

Google Chrome is a web browser developed for more speedy results in searches and updating of pages. It is set as my personal default browser.

Ubuntu is an operating system that is similar to windows in many ways, but is based on Linux architecture. It has no viruses, and is free of charge. Any programs that you need like Gimp (Linux version of Photoshop) can be downloaded from the Ubuntu servers free of charge.

Gimp is a free program similar to Photoshop. It utilises layers and most of the other features that Photoshop has. You can also save your file as a .psd or open .psd files.

Inkscape is a vector based application very similar to Adobe Illustrator. It is also a free program. You can import and export .ai files.

Blender is a 3D and game designing program. Very versatile and stable.

Open Office is an office suite that is comparable to Microsoft Office. It deals with all of the standard Microsoft Office file extensions extremely well. You can import or export all of the Microsoft Office files with Open Office.
